Friday 19th April saw the staging of the seventh BCUSG Trowbridge Branch quiz, held as before at Wesley Road Club in the town.
The quiz master for the evening was once again Trowbridge Branch committee member Dave Birch. The event had been publicised around the area on notice boards in Cafes, supermarkets etc. and via BCUSG social media pages.
Despite initial fears that numbers may be down due to peoples other commitments, there was a steady flow of keen quiz attendees, many coming in well before the start time, in order to secure a seat. In total there were 11 teams competing for the quiz trophy, once again kindly produced by Trowbridge group supporter Glenn, who also made the “wooden spoon” for the tail-end team.
The format remained unchanged, with nine rounds of general knowledge questions, plus a picture round, which this time was to identify 10 former UK Prime Ministers from their photos. The level of scores achieved was very high, with two teams “Just Us” and “Allsorts” sharing number one position with 96 points, with a tie-break question needed. “Dart Girls” graciously accepted the wooden spoon, being tail-end team with a very creditable 55 points.
Overall the evening was great fun and a successful fund-raising event for BCUSG. A total of £481 was raised on the night, £270 on the door plus £211 coming from the raffle.
Once again big thanks to all who attended, thanks to Trowbridge Committee members and supporters for their help on the evening, and thanks to Wesley Road Club for providing us with such a good venue to hold our quiz.
