New association with the Paediatric Oncology team at the Royal United Hospital

The trustees of BCUSG are delighted to have a new working relationship with the paediatric oncology team at the RUH.

They are are a small team comprising two doctors and two clinical nurse specialists plus associated supportive multidisciplinary team members.

The Bath catchment area has fifteen to twenty new paediatric oncology diagnoses per year and their treatment schedules are long, meaning that they have twenty-five to thirty-five children and young people receiving active treatment at any time.

They work closely with Bristol Children’s Hospital as the Primary Treatment Centre providing local chemotherapy and supportive care for their patients.

They work hard to deliver child and family centred care. Their service delivers both inpatient chemotherapy and outreach supportive care, promoting school attendance and preserving family life as much as possible.

Their team is passionate about the service they deliver and we look forward to working closely with them on various projects which we know will have such a positive impact on our young people, families and service as a whole.
