Bath Cancer Unit Support Group Charity Golf Day

Among those taking part were “The Pompey Lads”, who made the journey from Portsmouth for the fifth year running, continuing their loyal support for the event.

The day was very much designed as a fun golf day, with a number of extra challenges adding to the entertainment. Golfers had the chance to win a brand-new car by scoring a hole-in-one on a designated hole, while another hole featured a novelty challenge where players had to spin a wheel to find out which club they had to use — with some slightly unusual choices included!

Away from the fairways, fundraising continued throughout the day. An online auction featured generous donations from a number of golf clubs, each offering vouchers for rounds of golf, alongside donated tickets for seats at top football clubs. A raffle was also held, with more than 30 prizes kindly donated by local businesses.

The day concluded with a presentation dinner and awards ceremony, which was a memorable occasion in itself. As the results were announced, the lively banter between the teams provided plenty of laughs and rounded off the event in great style.

During the evening, Sue Oliver gave a short but important presentation about the work of the charity, highlighting in particular the importance of men speaking to their doctor about PSA testing and prostate cancer awareness.

The catering throughout the day was first class, and Bath Cancer Unit Support Group would like to thank Chippenham Golf Club for the excellent help, service and hospitality provided by the club and its staff.
