What is the Bath Half Marathon?
The Bath Half Marathon is one of the UK’s best-known road races, held annually in the historic city of Bath. Taking place each March since 1982, the event attracts thousands of runners every year.
Originally launched shortly after the first London Marathon, the race is often used by runners as preparation for larger endurance events. Today, it remains a key fixture in the UK running calendar and a major charity fundraising event.
Note: The March 2021 event was forced to be cancelled due to national COVID-19 restrictions. Following the 2021 cancellation, the event was rescheduled and postponed multiple times. It was moved to September 2021, The event finally returned in March 2022 to resume its place as a major charity fundraising event.
Supporting Cancer Services in Bath
The Bath Cancer Unit Support Group is a volunteer-run charity supporting the Royal United Hospital. Funds raised help provide essential medical equipment, enhanced facilities, and additional services that are not funded by the NHS.
The charity was founded in 1979 after local farmer Chris Norman launched an appeal to prevent the closure of the RUH cancer unit. His campaign successfully funded a life-saving linear accelerator used in radiotherapy treatment.
