Frome Rainbows Donate £100 to Bath Cancer Unit Support Group

Published: 25th September 2025

The 1st Frome Rainbows have been busy working towards their badge work – and in the process, they’ve raised an incredible £100 to support local cancer patients.

As part of their challenge, the Rainbows collected money in Smartie tubes for charity. Their chosen cause was inspired by one of their own members, who has received treatment for cancer. Wanting to help other children and families facing similar experiences, the group decided to donate their fundraising to the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group (BCUSG).

BCUSG is a local charity dedicated to improving treatment, care and research for cancer patients at the Royal United Hospital, Bath, and its surrounding areas. The group funds vital equipment and facilities that go above and beyond what the NHS provides, helping to make a real difference to patients and their families.

Rainbows is the youngest section of Girlguiding in the UK, welcoming girls aged 4 to 7. Established nationally in 1987, Rainbows encourages fun, friendship and learning – with many going on to become Brownies when they turn seven.

This thoughtful fundraising by the Frome Rainbows shows just how much of a difference even the youngest members of the community can make.

Thank you for visiting The Bath Cancer Unit Support Group website. The Charity is run entirely by volunteers, meaning there are no paid staff.

Approximately 95% of all monies raised goes straight into equipment and resources of the Cancer Departments at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.

The other 5% is spent on vital administration costs. During the past 33 years, our enthusiastic volunteers have raised over £6 million.
