Danny Holland’s Year of Giving for BCUSG
Bowls Wiltshire raises over £1700 for Bath Cancer Unit Support Group
Published: 28th January 2026
In 2025, Danny Holland served as President of Bowls Wiltshire, representing 43 affiliated bowls clubs across the county. As part of his presidential year, Danny chose Bath Cancer Unit Support Group as his Charity of the Year — a decision that quickly turned into a remarkable fundraising effort.
Throughout the season, Danny carried Bath Cancer Unit Support Group collecting boxes with him to every match he played. Over the course of around 20 matches, he encouraged fellow players, supporters, and clubs to donate, raising both vital funds and awareness for the charity. His commitment meant that Bath Cancer Unit Support Group was represented at greens across Wiltshire all year long, sparking generous support from the bowls community wherever he played.
Danny’s dedication and personal effort exemplified the spirit of bowls — friendship, generosity, and community — and Bath Cancer Unit Support Group is incredibly grateful for his support and the kindness shown by everyone who donated.
Thanks to Danny’s dedication and the generosity of the bowls community, an incredible £1,747 was raised for Bath Cancer Unit Support Group.

Bowls Wiltshire is the unified governing body for flat green lawn bowls across the county, supporting 43 participating bowls clubs that span the whole of Wiltshire.
The organisation was formed on 1 January 2009, bringing together two long-established associations:
- The Wiltshire Bowls Association, founded in 1914
- The Wiltshire County Women’s Association, founded in 1946
As part of the unification process, members unanimously agreed to retain the historic and much-loved nickname “The Moonrakers”, a title by which Wiltshire is widely known. This proud heritage is reflected in the Bowls Wiltshire County Badge.
The primary aim of Bowls Wiltshire is to provide first-class support to its affiliated clubs while continuing to promote the sport of bowls to players of all ages and backgrounds. The organisation is proudly affiliated to Bowls England, the National Governing Body for flat green lawn bowls in England.
Through initiatives like Danny Holland’s Charity of the Year, Bowls Wiltshire continues to demonstrate the strong community values at the heart of the sport.
