The Bath Half Marathon
About the event
The award-winning Bath Half boasts a flat, fast, historic route straddling both sides of the River Avon and threading through the heart of the World Heritage city.
It is one of the UK’s most prestigious half marathons and is the largest charity fundraising event in south-west England.
We’re offering a limited number of charity places to run in support of the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group and you can take part and experience the UK’s only World Heritage city in a unique way, all while helping us provide vital equipment, enhanced facilities, and essential services that fall outside NHS funding.
Our goal is to improve treatment outcomes and enhance the quality of life for local cancer patients.
Top tips to prepare for the Bath half
From Deep Heat and chocolate to smart safety-pin planning, the fundrasing team share their top tips for getting ready for event day.
David's top tip:
On your training days, get into the habit of eating breakfast early. Race day usually means an early start, and this will help your body adjust to running a couple of hours after eating.
Tims's top tip:
When the challenge starts to feel tough, take a moment to remember why you’re doing it and who you’re supporting by taking part for Bath Cancer Unit Support Group.
Debbie's top tip:
If you often get leg cramps (like I do), pop some Deep Heat roll-on in your bum bag, or ask one of your supporters to keep one ready at a cheer point in case you need it.
Kelly's top tip:
Pack your favourite treat or chocolate bar in your bag so you’ve got a well-earned reward waiting for you at the finish.
Mark's top tip:
Don’t forget to check your travel plans ahead of time – road closures, train delays or engineering works are the last things you need before the big day.
