A New Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment Centre for Frome
We are delighted to announce that funding has been secured for a new Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) Centre at Frome Medical Centre.
This has been made possible thanks to a generous grant from The Richard Oatley Foundation, donations from the Frome Rotary Shop run by the three Rotary Clubs in Frome with Frome Inner Wheel, and the kindness of our individual supporters.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Sainsbury’s Frome for enabling us to collect donations in store on a number of occasions.
This new treatment centre represents a significant step forward for local cancer care, enabling patients to receive vital treatments closer to home.

Bringing Treatment Closer to Home
The SACT Centre will serve patients who are undergoing treatment at the Royal United Hospital (RUH), Bath and who live within the Frome, Warminster and Westbury catchment area. By providing care locally, the center will reduce the need for frequent travel to Bath, easing the physical and emotional burden on patients and their families.
The centre will be run and staffed by the Royal United Hospital, Bath, ensuring the same high clinical standards and expert care patients would receive at the main hospital site.

“Moving treatment closer to home is not just about convenience-it is about equity, quality and compassion. It recognises that cancer treatment is not just a medical journey, but a human one and it acknowledges that where care is delivered can be just as important as how it is delivered. Thank you to Bath cancer unit support group and their donors for helping us turn our plans into reality.” Ros Helps – Macmillan Trust Lead Cancer Nurse

‘’We were approached by RUH several years ago with the concept of a Treatment Hub in Frome and asked whether we would consider funding all of the equipment and its instalation. It seemed such a major advance for patients who could be treated there with the reduction in travel hassles that we were on board immediately. It is wonderful to see it open and fully operational and we are we are very grateful to all of our helpers and those local groups who have helped with the funding.’’ Michael Taylor – Bath Cancer Unit Support Group Chairman

Rotary Support in Frome
We would like to recognise the invaluable support of The Rotary Clubs of Frome, Frome Town and The Rotary Club of Frome Selwood, together with Inner Wheel.
These organisations make an enormous contribution to our community through their fundraising, volunteering, and dedication to helping others. Their kindness and generosity have helped to support many important local causes, and we are sincerely grateful for everything they do.
Frome is a remarkable town, with more listed buildings than any other town in Somerset. It has always adapted effortlessly to changing times—valuing its rich past while embracing the present and future. Careful conservation work continues across the town, ensuring its historic character is preserved while supporting a thriving, forward-looking community.
The generosity of the Rotary Charity Shop and the wider Rotary community has played a vital role in making the new SACT Centre possible.
